Spearmint

Spearmint

Spearmint:

Spearmint has a sweeter, slightly milder fragrance than peppermint. Spearmint’s fragrant properties can be quite refreshing, and is often used as a "pick me up" oil. The oil is thought to uplift the spirit and increase alertness. When used in a diffuser as aromatherapy the qualities of spearmint are similar to those of menthol which is used to decrease respiratory congestion. Like lavender, however, it can also be used sparingly at bedtime to bring about a sense of calm and relaxation. Spearmint has been included in various products such soaps and facial toners. It is better suited for children than peppermint and is good for upset tummies, nausea, and fever. (Please consult your healthcare provider before administering to children.) Spearmint blends well with lavender, jasmine, bergamot, orange, and sandalwood.
